About Us – NURSPASS.COM
NURSPASS is an educational platform created by healthcare professionals with extensive clinical, teaching, and licensing exam prep experience, such as the NCLEX-RN. It was born as a direct response to a reality faced by thousands of nursing students every year: the challenge of preparing for a demanding, stressful exam that is often not taught with a strategic approach.
We know many RN candidates face confusing materials, expensive courses, or resources that don’t match their learning style. That’s why we created a tool focused on the essentials: concise, multilingual content organized by body systems and key subjects, along with interactive questions and mock exams that closely resemble the real test environment — all in one place, accessible from any device, enhancing instruction at different schools.

Nclex FAQ
What is the NCLEX-RN?
The NCLEX-RN is a standardized exam administered by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN), designed to assess whether a candidate has the minimum knowledge, skills, and clinical judgment required to begin practicing safely and competently as a registered nurse.
History of the NCLEX
🔹 Before the NCLEX
• Prior to 1982, each U.S. state had its own nursing exam.
• This caused inconsistencies and limited mobility for nursing professionals.
🔹 1982 – NCLEX is born
• The NCLEX-RN was officially implemented by the NCSBN in 1982 as a standardized national solution.
• At the time, the exam was paper-based.
🔹 1994 – Computerized NCLEX (CAT)
• Computerized Adaptive Testing (CAT) was implemented, adapting question difficulty to the candidate’s performance level.
• This transformed the test experience: not everyone gets the same questions — the system adjusts in real time based on performance.
🔹 2023 – Next Gen NCLEX (NGN) changes
• In April 2023, the Next Generation NCLEX was launched — an updated version of the exam focused more on clinical thinking and safe decision-making.
• Introduced new question types (like matrices, ranges, drag and drop) and more realistic clinical case scenarios.
What does the NCLEX-RN assess?
The exam is based on four main categories according to the Client Needs model:
- Safe and Effective Care Environment:
- Care coordination
- Safety and infection control
- Health Promotion and Maintenance:
- Growth and development
- Disease prevention
- Psychosocial Integrity:
- Emotional support and mental health
- Physiological Integrity:
- Pharmacology, risk reduction, and complex care management
What is the exam like?
- Maximum duration: 5 hours
- Format: Computer-based (at Pearson VUE centers)
- Number of questions: Between 70 and 135 in the Next Gen format (may vary)
- Language: English
- Approximate cost: $200–$300 USD (varies by state)
Who must take the NCLEX-RN?
• Nursing students who graduated from an accredited program in the U.S. or Canada.
• International nurses seeking legal licensure in the U.S. or Canada (must go through a credential validation process, usually with CGFNS).
• Foreign physicians who complete nursing school in the United States and wish to work as registered nurses to continue their healthcare careers.
Why is it important?
The NCLEX-RN not only opens the door to professional practice but also ensures patient safety by confirming that only qualified individuals provide clinical care.
NCLEX Next Gen: What Has Changed?
As of April 2023, the NCLEX-RN exam evolved into a new format called the Next Generation NCLEX (NGN). This change marks one of the most significant transformations in the exam's history, implemented by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) to more accurately assess the clinical decision-making of future nurses.
🔍 Key Changes:
- Increased focus on Clinical Judgment:
- The new NCLEX is based on the NCSBN’s Clinical Judgment Model, evaluating how candidates analyze information, identify problems, prioritize, make safe decisions, and evaluate outcomes in complex clinical scenarios.
- New item types:
- Innovative formats were added to better reflect real-world nursing situations:
- Drag-and-drop boxes
- Multiple response questions (now with partial scoring)
- Cloze-type items (fill-in-the-blank in clinical context)
- Matrix/grid questions
- Extended multiple-response case study: A case with multiple sequential questions
- Innovative formats were added to better reflect real-world nursing situations:
- Case-based evaluation:
- Every exam includes at least 3 clinical cases with multiple questions that assess critical thinking and the ability to make safe decisions under pressure.
- Updated scoring system (Partial Credit):
- Partial credit is now awarded for partially correct answers, allowing for a more fair and detailed assessment of a student’s knowledge and reasoning.
